About the Oyanirami (Japanese Coreoperca)

The oyanirami is a freshwater fish about ten centimeters long with an eye-like spot on its gill cover. It inhabits slow-flowing rivers, and males guard the eggs. Its native range includes parts of western Japan and southern Korea. A section of the upper Kuwano River in Tokushima is protected as a prefectural Natural Monument for this fish.
