The Amami Tip-nosed Frog is a medium-sized frog living near forest streams on Amami-Oshima and Tokunoshima. It breeds in streams from winter to spring, and the tadpoles grow in the water. It declined because of introduced mongooses and changes to the forest, and it is designated a Natural Monument of Kagoshima Prefecture.
