About the Asahina's Skipper

Asahina's Skipper is a small skipper butterfly living in the mountains of Ishigaki and Iriomote in the Yaeyama Islands. It has yellowish-brown wings, and its larvae feed on Ryukyu bamboo, a member of the grass family. Its range is extremely limited, and the species itself was designated a Natural Monument of Okinawa Prefecture in 1978 without a geographically restricted designation area.
