About the Pyrocoelia rufa Firefly

A terrestrial firefly found in Japan on Tsushima Island in Nagasaki. Its habitat along the Azu River is a prefectural Natural Monument. Adults appear in autumn and glow at night, while larvae live on land and feed on snails. It also occurs around fields and rice paddies, and conserving these terrestrial habitats is important.
