About the Land Hermit Crabs

These are land-dwelling hermit crabs that live away from the sea as adults, carrying a snail shell on their backs and mostly active at night. They still depend on the sea for breeding and for their larvae. They occur in the Ogasawara Islands, Kagoshima and Okinawa, where collecting is restricted.
