About the Misaki Horse

The Misaki Horse is a native horse living semi-wild on Cape Toi in Kushima, Miyazaki Prefecture. Herds move across the cape's grasslands and breed with little human help. Said to descend from horses of an Edo-period pasture, it is a rare native horse seen in a near-natural setting.
