The Mandarin Duck is a beautiful duck whose males wear brilliantly colored plumage. It nests in tree cavities, and its ducklings leap from the nest to the ground to leave. In Japan it has long symbolized a happy marriage. It is seen at the waterside of the former Shirokane Imperial Estate in Tokyo, where nature is protected.
