Cnidarians are aquatic animals with stinging cells, including corals, sea anemones and jellyfish. Cnidarians and other designated biological groups in selected coastal areas of Uwajima and Ainan are protected under the prefectural Natural Monument designation for the Uwa Sea's special marine resources. The designation does not cover all marine resources throughout the Uwa Sea; some commercially harvested organisms are excluded.
