The Korean hairstreak is a small orange-winged butterfly with a restricted distribution in Japan. Its caterpillars feed on ash leaves. Yamagata designated the butterfly itself, without specifying a locality, as a prefectural Natural Monument on March 28, 1977. Its isolated Japanese populations are biogeographically valuable.
