The Noma Horse is one of Japan's smallest native horses, kept mainly in the Noma area of Imabari, Ehime Prefecture. Docile and sturdy, it was used for work and transport on steep slopes such as orchards. Its numbers fell drastically, but conservation work has kept the breed alive.
